Deanna Evans Projects is excited to announce scaled UP. In response to the previous exhibition, SCALE, which focused solely on small-scale works, scaled UP features only large-scale pieces for the very first time in the space. The overall aim is to question how work should be installed and what an apartment gallery can show.

This show takes full advantage of every inch of wall space, even some ceiling space, which encourages the viewer to be fully immersed in the exhibition. Placing large-scale works in a small domestic space leads to conflict of understanding. Is this a commercial space? Private space? Or the ever-expanding hybrid space? Overall, this exhibition is designed to throw out some of the unwritten rules related to what can be shown in small space and what is considered a gallery.

Alison Kudlow lives and works in Brooklyn. She has BA from the University of Southern California, a post-baccalaureate degree from Brandeis University and is currently an MFA candidate in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Low-Residency Program in Studio Art. She has shown her work in group and solo shows in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and New York at galleries such as Field Projects, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Flux Factory, and Urban Glass. Alison's work investigates the moments when sunlight splits open to reveal its spectrum--small schisms of time and space. She aims to materialize these moments, to freeze time and embody unseen forces. Her praxis is utopian, a repeated ritual that aims to extinguish loss, but can only bring us to the brink of transcendence. The work celebrates the unknown and the unknowable, the space between science and mythology.

Calli Moore is an artist and curator based in Brooklyn, NY.  Born and raised in Iowa, Moore received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Iowa in 2014 and earned her MFA at American University, Washington, D.C.  in 2016. As an artist, Moore’s work deals with the physicality of paint as both a material and form, creating dense sculptural paintings that expand beyond the boundaries of the panel.  Moore’s abstract works incorporate a variety of materials (crystals, fabrics, acrylic paint, and foam), which extend her painting vocabulary through experimentation with non-traditional mark-making tools.  Moore has shown work across the United States and has held residencies at GlogauAIR in Berlin (2015) and the Chautauqua Institute, Chautauqua, NY (2016).  Moore has exhibited work in several group shows in New York as well as nationally and internationally (see CV).  Moore recently curated at SPRING/BREAK Art Show 2018 and will be collaborating with The Wall Street Journal in May 2018 for SYNT.

Lauren Seiden (born 1981. Lives in New York City) received her B.A. in Painting and Drawing from Bennington College in Vermont. Seiden received the AOL and Chuck Close “25 for 25” Grant Award in 2010, in 2014 she was a recipient for ‪The Drawing Center's "Open Sessions" program, and in 2016 was a FID Prize finalist. Allie has exhibited across the United States, most recently in her solo exhibition "CONNECT..." at Corridor Gallery, Brooklyn. She is the creator of FACE New York, a portrait project that challenges the anonymity of homelessness in New York. Allie’s work as an organizer, curator, and artist has been featured in The Huffington Post, Vice: Creator’s Project, Topic, and Untapped Cities. Her works on paper are held in private collections in the United States, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
