Amelia Briggs is an interdisciplinary artist working in fiber, painting, and installation. Her work investigates themes of interiority, memory, and transformation through plump whimsical forms that switch between the familiar and the uncanny. Through processes of sewing, cutting, stuffing, layering, and assembling, materials become vessels for embodied experience, which personal history is absorbed and transformed into new forms. Briggs has been an artist-in-residence at Wassaic Project, Monson Arts, and the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.
Her work has been widely exhibited including exhibitions at Deanna Evans Projects (New York, NY), The Hole (Los Angeles, CA), Art Basel (Miami, FL), Numeroventi (Florence, Italy), Boston University (Boston, MA), The High Line (New York, NY), Bowes-Parris Gallery (London, UK), and Cohle Gallery (Paris, France), among others. In 2019, Briggs began a collaboration with renowned designer Kelly Wearstler, which continues today. This partnership has been featured in Vogue, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Surface, and Domino.
